There many different types of suspension kits available from just lowering springs to fully adjustable coilovers which will allow the height and ride to set depending upon the application it is used for.
A set of four progressive lowering springs that are normally used in conjunction with the standard dampers.(lower than 40mm you sould up rate dampers)Offer only a small increase in handling over the standard items.
Normally included's a set of four progressive lowering springs and a set of four up rated dampers. The damping done by these is constant and is non adjustable. In some cases the shockers are shorter than the standard fitment ones and thus work more better with the lowering springs.
Normally includes a set of progressive lowered springs, more than likely the same as used on the fixed rate kits. The only difference is the damper which are now adjustable and thus the damping rate can be alter to give a softer / harder ride over standard equipment.
Coilovers are one piece shocker and spring as opposed to using a separate spring and shock absorber like used on the majority of vauxhalls on the rear(Avo kit only). The height is also adjustable as well as the damping rate dependant on the manufacturer. Therefore the ride height and ride can be set up to meet the requirements needed for the car.

The nova above is lowered using Avo coilovers.
